Mrs Sim’s Weekly Update – Term 1 Week 11

HELLO and Happy Friday!

In honour of International Students’ day I made a rap for the children and performed it in assembly 🙂 It went like this….

Hey there, it’s Student Day, hooray,

Little learners, let’s all sway.

Jay, Mika, Eric, gather ’round,

In our class, joy is found.

Ayla asks questions, she’s so cool,

Yerang laughs, in our school.

Evangelia, Elena, Lua so sweet,

In our class, our hearts beat.

(Chorus)

Student Day, hands in the air,

Our class is a place so rare.

In our room, we laugh and play,

Learning and growing every day.

Evangelia’s fire, shining bright,

Elena’s kindness, feels just right.

Lua colours, a creative drawing,

In our class, where we all belong.

(Chorus)

Student Day, hands in the air,

Our class is a place so rare.

In our room, we laugh and play,

Learning and growing every day.

(Bridge)

All around the world, we unite,

Student Day, it feels so right.

Different friends, in our space,

Smiling together, in this place.

Jay, Mika, Eric, and you,

In this class, we stick like glue.

Student Day, let’s give a cheer,

For a future that’s bright and clear.

(Chorus)

Student Day, hands in the air,

Our class is a place so rare.

In our room, we laugh and play,

Learning and growing every day.

I think they all enjoyed it 🙂

Let’s take a look at what we have been up to this week!

We started the week off on a high! Eric returned from Croatia on Monday and it has been lovely having him back in class again. He brought the students some biscuits and we enjoyed them together- thank you Eric!

In IPC, we have been enjoying the Art activities of our unit ‘Buildings’. We made some beautiful pastel drawings of the school building. We explored different artists’ work including Vincent Van Gogh and Yoni Alter. We used Yoni Alter’s work as inspiration to create our very own night landscapes. Today we made our new school building out of clay! It was so messy and so very much fun!

In Maths this week Year 1 did a great job adding objects using the 2 parts/whole model. We used tens frames to help us to add and looked at telling stories using first, then and now to help solve addition problems.

Year 2 have been working on adding 1 digit numbers to a 2 digit number using a number line. I have included a numberline in their homework this week but some student are able to mentally calculate.

In English, we delved into postcard writing and looked at the features. The students will have a postcard template in their homework this week to write one for the class!

Field Trip

If you haven’t sent your money in already for our field trip please do so by next Monday (16,000won). Thank you so much. On the day the students will need

  • A snack
  • Lunch that doesn’t need to be heated
  • Warm clothes
  • A big smile

Have a lovely weekend everyone

See you next week.
