This week, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and had a wonderful time expressing Eric Carle’s unique illustrations and storytelling through art.
Yeseo explored the vibrant colours found in Eric Carle’s artwork and experimented with layering different colours on white paper to experience his distinctive painting techniques firsthand.
To create the caterpillar, she painted the back of her hand and used a sponge to stamp it onto the paper, forming the body of the caterpillar. She also illustrated the various foods the caterpillar ate throughout the week, bringing the story to life with her own creative interpretation.
It was a great opportunity to freely explore colour expression through the experience of layering different shades!
