This week marked the beginning of the new term, and I planned a fun and creative activity for the students. We started making adorable snowman dolls using socks and cotton wool.

First, we cut the socks in half and filled them with cotton wool to shape the snowman. Then, we used patterned socks to design hats and clothes, incorporating sewing to add detail and creativity.

Although the kids haven’t completed their projects yet, I’m excited to see how wonderful their snowmen will turn out. It’s been a great start to the term!

This week, we had a special guest join us in the art room—Santa Claus himself! When we closed our eyes and counted to three, Santa appeared with a big “ta-da!”

Since Yeseo was unwell, Maddison attended one of the two art classes alone this week. She was thrilled to have Santa join her, and it made the class so much fun for her.

This week, we worked on creating Christmas stockings. During the second art class, Yeseo joined us, and we had a great time together. The kids drew Christmas stockings, punched holes in them, and used yarn to sew, creating stockings full of holiday spirit. Even though we used blunt needles, the kids were careful threading the yarn.

The kids were so thoughtful and wanted to make stockings for their parents too! Their sweet intentions were heartwarming. I promised to make stockings for their mom and dad next week. The kids were very proud of their work, and seeing their pride made me so happy.

Next week, we’ll have even more fun with Christmas-themed art. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

We completed our hot air balloon project this week by adding images of the cities each student chose to “fly” to, using the pictures I had prepared. We also had a fun time flying paper airplanes for a short activity.

Additionally, we began making Christmas stockings using sewing skills. The students punched holes in the stockings, threaded thick, blunt needles with yarn, and started creating beautiful Christmas stockings. Next time, we’ll add more decorations to make the stockings even more festive and complete.

This week, we created an accordion as part of our instrument-themed art. We folded paper to make the stretchable part that mimics the sound mechanism and designed both sides. It was a fun and creative project! We also made Christmas tree mobiles, adding a festive touch to our activities.

This week, the Year 5-6 kids created beautiful Christmas-themed art using jeans to design festive patterns. They cut out shapes, stuck them onto hardboard, and added creative backgrounds. The jean art gave a cozy and warm feeling to their work. I also gave them options for other projects, such as bottle drawing and painting, creating a Christmas photo zone, and dyeing ink on tissue paper. I’m excited to see how their amazing artwork evolves next week!
