This week at HFS School, the students enjoyed a fun Halloween-themed art lesson. Each class had a great time creating different Halloween crafts, such as drawing pumpkins and ghosts, making spider webs and spiders, creating spooky eyes and spooky hands, and crafting moving bats. The kids had so much fun, and during the remaining time, they made even more Halloween art of their choice. Next term, I’ll prepare even more exciting lessons. Have a wonderful Autumn break, everyone, and I look forward to seeing you all healthy and happy next term!

This week, I had only Maddison in art class again, just like last week. We created beautiful autumn-themed art, including a scarecrow and dragonflies. Maddison coloured, cut, and glued everything together, which helped improve her motor skills. She’s getting quite good at cutting, although she still needed a little help. After the lesson, she did a fantastic job tidying up. I’m so proud of you, Maddison! Keep up the great work!
This week, we completed our Mr. Potato Head project by adding features to our potato faces. We also explored the sense of sound through a fun craft. The students learned about how we hear and created a string telephone to see how sound travels. It was a great hands-on activity that helped the kids understand sound in a creative way! Elena’s mother, Kano’s mother, and Ms. Barbara came to the art room as volunteers today and helped with cutting and laminating. Their assistance was a big help. Thank you very much!
We’ve been learning about how the human body works. We divided into four groups, and each group used their creativity to make poses and trace body movements. The students were excited to design clothes based on the poses and added unique details to their outfits. It was a fun and creative activity that allowed everyone to express their ideas through art!
Our Year 5-6 students finished their amazing masks, and they turned out so cool! In addition to the mask project, we also made a flying Halloween bat craft, which the kids were really excited about. Next week, we’ll be creating more fun Halloween art, and I’m really looking forward to this creative time with them!
This week, our Year 7-9 students explored the fascinating world of marbling art. They learned how paint can float on water due to something called “surface tension,” which allows the colours to stay on top of the water’s surface. Using this knowledge, students experimented by dropping paint into water, creating stunning and unique patterns. They then transferred these patterns onto paper, producing beautiful, original prints. It was an exciting and creative way for them to understand how water works while making their own artistic designs.
This week, Yeseo was absent, so it was just Maddison and me for the art lesson. Although we missed Yeseo a lot, Maddison and I had a fun and creative time exploring a variety of art materials, such as chalk pastels, watercolour paints, and playdough. We started by creating a beautiful autumn tree with colourful leaves, capturing the essence of the season. After that, we dove into Mondrian’s style of art, using black tape to form horizontal and vertical lines on the paper. Maddison then had the freedom to paint whatever she liked within the spaces, and the results were … FS1-2 Art Class Update T1-W8
The Year 1-2 kids are learning all about the five senses—sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch—through a fun and creative Mr. Potato Head art project. We spent time discussing how we use each of our senses in daily life, and then the students drew their own version of Mr. Potato Head. This activity helped them reinforce the meaning of the five senses while being imaginative and artistic!
This week, we built on what we’ve learned about our bodies and internal organs, focusing on how our bodies move and stay healthy. We expressed these ideas through art, exploring how movement can be represented creatively. By creating action figures, we gained a deeper understanding of how our muscles, bones, and organs work together to keep us active and healthy. This group activity also helped us learn the importance of teamwork and cooperation, as we worked together to bring our creative ideas to life.
