This week, we’ve been exploring various art techniques and materials, focusing on the famous artist Jackson Pollock, known for his action painting style.

I showed students some of Pollock’s masterpieces, and we discussed the art genre his style belongs to. We also shared our feelings about what it might be like to create action paintings and observed the patterns he used in his work.

The students researched a list of ten questions I provided and documented their findings on Google Slides. Next week, a few students will present their slides, and we’ll engage in a hands-on activity to try action painting ourselves, just like Jackson Pollock!

This week at HFS School, the students enjoyed a fun Halloween-themed art lesson. Each class had a great time creating different Halloween crafts, such as drawing pumpkins and ghosts, making spider webs and spiders, creating spooky eyes and spooky hands, and crafting moving bats. The kids had so much fun, and during the remaining time, they made even more Halloween art of their choice. Next term, I’ll prepare even more exciting lessons. Have a wonderful Autumn break, everyone, and I look forward to seeing you all healthy and happy next term!

This week, I had only Maddison in art class again, just like last week. We created beautiful autumn-themed art, including a scarecrow and dragonflies. Maddison coloured, cut, and glued everything together, which helped improve her motor skills. She’s getting quite good at cutting, although she still needed a little help. After the lesson, she did a fantastic job tidying up.

I’m so proud of you, Maddison! Keep up the great work!

This week, we completed our Mr. Potato Head project by adding features to our potato faces. We also explored the sense of sound through a fun craft. The students learned about how we hear and created a string telephone to see how sound travels. It was a great hands-on activity that helped the kids understand sound in a creative way!

Elena’s mother, Kano’s mother, and Ms. Barbara came to the art room as volunteers today and helped with cutting and laminating. Their assistance was a big help. Thank you very much!

We’ve been learning about how the human body works. We divided into four groups, and each group used their creativity to make poses and trace body movements. The students were excited to design clothes based on the poses and added unique details to their outfits. It was a fun and creative activity that allowed everyone to express their ideas through art!

Our Year 5-6 students finished their amazing masks, and they turned out so cool! In addition to the mask project, we also made a flying Halloween bat craft, which the kids were really excited about. Next week, we’ll be creating more fun Halloween art, and I’m really looking forward to this creative time with them!
