FS1-2 kids created a raincoat, rain boots, and umbrella after seeing the story of a rainy day. We drew various patterns on the umbrella and decorated the raincoat. Then, we drew puddles, clouds, thunder, and more. We can clearly understand and feel the rainy day with our paintings. Their completed paintings are amazing! Well done!!!
This week, we had a time to express the frog drawing and the pond with various materials that we did last week. We attached sugar paper to the lily pad and coloured the pond with watercolour paints. It was a time to explore various materials such as markers, sugar papers and watercolour paints.
This week, we learned about the background of how Vincent van Gogh created the portrait of Joseph Roulin and their relationship. We discussed the emotions they shared through that painting and sketched our own style of Josph Roulin’s portrait.
We’ve been learning and investigating various skills that artists have tried. This week, we’re continuing to explore Seurat’s pointillism. We’ve been using original colors and adding them to create different tones that look natural. It takes a lot of effort to place each dot on our painting. Well done, everyone, for your patience and hard work.
This week, we’ve been learning how to create stop motion animation. We’ve prepared to draw some images for the title “Eating a Burger and Watermelon.” The kids discussed how they’re going to craft the story and assigned roles for each part. This week, they’ve shown great responsibility in their roles and have focused on their work exceptionally well. Well done!
The FS1-2 kids have been learning about the weather, focusing on rainy days this week. We discussed our feelings during rainy days, what we wear, and what we need to stay dry. To explore further, we created clouds, raindrops, and puddles using cotton and paints.
The Year 1-2 students have been learning about the habitat of frogs. We discovered what frogs look like and where they live. Then, we applied the ideas we learned by drawing pictures of frogs and their habitats.
Vincent Van Gogh’s numerous paintings expressed objects as he felt, revealing his inner self. Particularly, he enjoyed drawing swirling lines. His famous painting of the cypress tree captures this distinctive characteristic that only Vincent Van Gogh could produce. The year3-4 students also attempted to draw pictures reminiscent of Vincent Van Gogh, using thick, short lines that swirl. They drew short curves in different colours, adjusting the thickness of the lines and colours according to their feelings at the moment. Doesn’t our children’s cypress tree reflect their unique sensibilities beautifully?
The year 5-6 students have been delving into the world of art through the study of Seurat’s pointillism technique. They’re exploring how Seurat used tiny dots of colour to create vibrant and detailed images. This hands-on learning experience not only enhances their appreciation for art but also fosters their creativity and attention to detail. I am looking forward to seeing how wonderful their creations will be.
The year 7-9 students have been busy creating stop motion animations, where each frame builds a moving story. They’ve been using editing software to refine their work, adding special effects for that final touch. This project not only sparks creativity but also encourages teamwork and problem-solving. Next week, we will explore a different topic of stop motion animation. It will be even more fun!
