In the art class this term, the year3-4 students are exploring the theme of environment and nature. This week, we experimented with stained glass techniques to depict trees. Each student drew their own interpretation of a tree and then used OHP film to create stained glass effect. I believe we’ll see some truly creative works reflecting the children’s imaginations. I’ll share the finished pieces with you next week!
This week, we drew portraits using our own photos. We traced the photos using tracing paper and then used oil pastels we had learned about to adjust the tones, creating a sense of depth. It wasn’t easy, but all the children were deeply engaged in their drawings and created works full of personality.
This week, we tried drawing the Mona Lisa portrait with soft pastels. First, we traced it gently using tracing paper, then carefully applied soft pastels to match the colours from the original painting. Mixing different colours, we managed to show the fine textures of Mona Lisa’s clothes. The session was really fun and educational for all the kids who participated.
This week, FS1-2 kids have been exploring various emotions by drawing monsters with different expressions. They used blowing paint techniques to create patterns and depict monsters with a range of facial expressions. Additionally, they have been learning about road safety, understanding road signs, and even participating in skits to simulate real-life situations. They also delved into the topic of transportation, discussing and drawing various modes of transportation found in the air, water, and on land. It has been a joyous and educational time for all.
The Year 1-2 children have been learning about parody in art, which means making funny versions of famous artworks. They have looked at paintings by famous artists like Klimt, Munch, Van Gogh, and da Vinci to get ideas for their own funny pictures. Even though their ideas are clever, just looking at their pictures makes us happy and excited to see what they will make next. We can’t wait to see their finished artworks!
The year3-4 students engaged in discussions about the efforts needed to preserve our precious Earth and nature. Following this discussion, they created environmental posters. They discussed the essential elements that posters should have—such as slogans, images, and colours—and visually represented their own slogans prominently, incorporating images to enhance their messages.
The Year 5-6 students have been diligently practicing the art of creating portraits using oil pastels, exploring various techniques to master different tones and shades in their artwork.
The year7-9 Students have learned about the life and works of Leonardo da Vinci, the renowned Renaissance artist. They have delved into the composition and technical aspects of his masterpiece, the Mona Lisa. Utilizing their own creativity, each student has had the opportunity to engage in a parody exercise, reinterpreting the iconic Mona Lisa in their own unique ways.
This week, our FS1-2 friends, we had a super cool time learning about feelings and emotions! We watched this really fun story called “The Colour Monster,” where we met a cute monster who had different colors for his feelings. It was so interesting!
After watching the story, we all talked about our own feelings and when we usually feel them. It was neat to see how everyone feels different things at different times! Then, we got to draw our feelings on the whiteboard. Some of us drew happy faces, some drew sad faces, and some drew faces with lots of different feelings mixed together!
Next, we did something really fun—we used our fingerprints to make colourful pictures! We dipped our fingers in lots of bright colours and made awesome designs. It was like making a rainbow with our hands! After that, we got to draw on our fingerprint pictures to show even more of our feelings.
We also got to play with clay to explore our feelings. Some of us made smiley faces, while others made shapes that showed different feelings like excitement or calmness.
It was such a fun week learning about feelings and emotions together! We found out that it’s okay to feel all kinds of ways, and it’s important to talk about our feelings with our friends. Plus, we had a blast drawing, fingerprinting, and playing with clay! Can’t wait to see what fun things we learn next week!
This week, those who missed out last week continued working on crafting baskets using weaving methods and then added the fruits we painted. Meanwhile, the rest of us started delving into the world of parodying famous art. It’s been a blast exploring the countless amusing art parodies out there. We found some really interesting ones and picked artworks to recreate with our own unique spins.
