  • Y5-6 Art Class Update – T2W2

Year 5-6 students are learning about expressing themselves in art, focusing on emojis as a fun start. Emojis are those smiley faces and symbols we often use in texts and messages to show feelings. Kids are figuring out how to share their emotions through art.

We began by talking about emojis, those little faces on our screens. Emoticons, as they’re called, use keyboard characters to show feelings in digital messages. They help us express emotions when we’re chatting online, where we can’t see each other’s faces.

The students explored different emojis and picked their favorites. Then, the fun part – they created their own emojis! It was a cool and creative activity that let them express themselves in a fun way through art.

Art is a journey of human expression that has evolved throughout history. It began with early humans creating simple drawings on cave walls to communicate and record their experiences.

This term, students in Year 7-9 are delving into the history of art. This week, we kicked off our research to craft a visual timeline highlighting key art movements. I briefly explained each movement, emphasizing key characteristics and notable artists.

I assigned each student a specific art movement and provided them with time to delve into the details of the characteristics and artists they’ve been assigned. Once we complete this timeline project, we will share the information and facts we’ve discovered. Afterward, we’ll dive deeper into the specifics of each art period and the artists involved.

    Y3-4 Art Class Update – T2W1

This week, we created a topper expressing our New Year’s wishes. A topper is a tool that utilizes text design and images to convey one’s emotional state. In the first week of the new term, we started with a fun and interesting creative activity. We designed images representing the animal symbol of the year, which is a blue dragon, and a sunrise image symbolizing the new year. Additionally, we designed the text with phrases we wanted to incorporate. The outlines were emphasized with bold black lines to make them stand out. Everyone created artworks that reflected their own unique personalities.

From next week, each year group will have an art lesson with different topics that I have prepared.
