In the mid-1950s, Andy Warhol worked as an illustrator for the popular shoe manufacturer I. Miller.
For three years, Warhol drew shoes for advertisements, a cultural symbol that would fascinate him
throughout his career. The stately high-heeled shoe, usually depicted in profile, was Warhol’s favorite,
which he portrayed in a range of colors and materials.

This week, the Year 7-9 students took inspiration from Andy Warhol’s shoe designs to create their own
high heels. The objective of this project was to design Christmas-themed shoes incorporating
commercial elements. Each student is anticipated to express their unique personality through their
    individual shoe designs.

    FS2 Art Class Update – T1W12

Starting this week, the FS2 children are having art lessons with a winter theme.

When we think of winter, movies and snowmen come to mind, so we had a lesson on drawing Olaf.

After watching a short video about Olaf’s story, we observed Olaf’s appearance and had a drawing session with me on the white board.

We also discussed the presents we want to receive for Christmas with me and designed Christmas stockings.

Since all the FS2 children are kind and wonderful, they believe that Santa Claus will bring exactly what they want for Christmas. They drew pretty stockings with various shapes.

In the next session, we will have a time to try threading yarn using fuzzy yarn.

This week, the Year1-2 students learned the word ‘skyline’ and enjoyed photos the view of skyscrapers and cityscapes. They sketched the skyline of tall buildings reflecting on the river.

Drawing straight lines horizontally and vertically can be challenging for them, so this activity provided an
opportunity to practice using scissors. They depicted various shapes of buildings, including tall, short, wide, and narrow structures.

They also tried to capture the feeling of the river reflecting on the water. Additionally, they used scratch paper to draw buildings. It was a diverse and enjoyable building-drawing class.

Next week, they plan to finish the incomplete scratch buildings and experiment with coloring their ketches using acrylic paint.

Constellations are special groups of stars, each forming a specific shape and having its own name.
They operate like a dot-to-dot puzzle, where the stars are connected with invisible lines to create a
picture. These pictures often resemble animals, humans, or objects, and though they might sometimes
be challenging to see, the stars in a constellation, despite appearing close, can actually be quite distant
    from each other.

This week, the Year 3-4 children delved into the fascinating world of constellations.

Now equipped with an understanding of what constellations signify, they created their own constellations using their names and incorporating various images into the starry backdrop.

The activity proved to be very engaging, with some children even continuing to paint on their space background using black paints.
