For Y5-6 , after completing our lessons on Pop Art, we compared and contrasted the works of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. The students explored the similarities and differences between these two artists, deepening their understanding of Pop Art’s diverse styles and techniques. Instead of searching for answers online, the students responded to 15 thought-provoking questions using their own words and ideas. This exercise encouraged them to reflect on what they had learned throughout the term and articulate their thoughts independently. Everyone participated enthusiastically, and it was inspiring to see their critical thinking and engagement with art history. Great job, … Y5-6 Art Class Update T2-W8
This week, we explored the famous song APT in our art lesson, blending music and visual creativity. Students started by identifying key words in the lyrics, such as apartment, home, window, light, and the two singers’ characters. Using these as inspiration, they sketched scenes they wanted to include in the video. Each student brought their own artistic vision, illustrating different aspects of their ideas. Students had laid the foundation for the video’s illustrations. This activity not only encouraged creativity but also promoted teamwork and artistic expression. We will continue developing the project next week!
Yeseo’s art lesson was integrated with the IEYC topic “Push and Pull.” We had an engaging discussion about the principles of force, exploring the meanings of “push” and “pull” through body movements. She also analyzed prepared images, identifying whether they represented pushing or pulling actions. Yeseo is a very smart kid and understood the concepts well. Additionally, she applied her understanding of force by playing a push-and-pull game using marbles. It was a fun and interactive learning experience!
The Year 1-2 kids successfully completed their mini-books this week. As a special addition, I introduced an exciting lesson they had been eagerly anticipating—“Painting on Umbrellas.” Each kid designed a unique image, boldly outlined it with marker pens, and added vibrant colours. Once the art exhibition in early June is over, they will be able to take their personalized umbrellas home and use them. The kids were absolutely thrilled and had a fantastic time throughout the lesson. Next week, we will further enhance their designs by decorating the umbrellas with a combination of markers and waterproof acrylic paint, making them … Y1-2 Art Class Update T2-W7
The Year 3-4 students studied the life and works of Egon Schiele, a protege of Gustav Klimt. They discussed the similarities and differences between Klimt’s paintings and Schiele’s distinct style. Inspired by Schiele’s unique characteristics, they attempted to create expressive portraits using bold, rough lines and raw, unrefined imagery. Although the technique was challenging, the students enjoyed expressing their own emotions through drawing.
The Year 5-6 students successfully completed their artwork inspired by Roy Lichtenstein. Building on this, they explored the bold and dynamic style of comic book pop art lettering. Each student carefully selected a word that resonated with them and brought it to life through expressive, eye-catching designs. The results were truly stunning, showcasing their creativity and artistic flair.
This week, the year 7-9 students had a fun and exciting lesson where they combined traditional drawing with digital animation using the Animated Drawing Tool. They used their creativity and AI technology to bring their hand-drawn characters to life! First, students took pictures of their drawings using a laptop and uploaded them to the Animated Drawing Tool. The AI helped by detecting the movement points on their characters, making it easy to animate them. After uploading, students tried different movements like walking, jumping, waving, and dancing. They learned how changing the movement points made their characters move more smoothly. Some … Y7-9 Art Class Update T2-W7
Yeseo created a vibrant underwater scene by folding origami sea animals, gluing them onto paper, and illustrating the ocean world. We watched a short video to observe and discuss the appearance and environment of various sea creatures, sparking curiosity and conversation. Yeseo had a great time singing Baby Shark and enthusiastically drawing her own baby sharks. Next time, we’ll dive into an art lesson connected to the IEYC class topic—looking forward to another exciting session!
The Year 1-2 students had a wonderful time crafting their own mini-books using A4 paper. They carefully folded and cut the pages, designed unique covers, and illustrated the growth process of a sunflower while writing about each stage. It was a delightful and rewarding experience, and they all took great pride in their work. Next week, we will continue our storytelling journey by creating another storybook. This time, the students will have the freedom to come up with their own titles, stories, and illustrations, allowing their creativity to shine even more.
This week, instead of group activities, students had the opportunity to explore their creativity individually. Having already learned about Gustav Klimt’s life and artistic style, they closely examined The Tree of Life and discussed the intricate shapes of its branches. Through these discussions, they gained a deeper understanding of the symbolic meaning behind Klimt’s swirling designs. Using crayons, markers, beads, and sequins, they beautifully decorated their own interpretations of The Tree of Life, resulting in stunning and expressive artworks. At the end, they also had the chance to use sparkling glitter, which, while leaving the art room in a bit … Y3-4 Art Class Update T2-W6
