Last Week of Term

The last week of term is here, and there are still many things going on at HFS. We hope to see lots of families on Friday for our final assembly and potluck lunch. The details can be found below.

Gyeongju World Trip and Bad Weather

The weather forecast is not looking good for Tuesday’s trip to Gyeongju World. We will keep watching the forecasts and make a decision on Monday. There is a possibility that the trip will be postponed until Thursday, when the weather looks better. Parents will be informed either way on Monday.

Final Day Assembly

Parents and friends of HFS are welcome to join a special assembly to celebrate the end of the year on Friday, 27th June, at 11.30am. We will celebrate some highlights from the year, say goodbye to some friends and acknowledge some special achievements. Assembly will be followed by the Potluck Lunch (details below).

Anti-Graft Laws

As we come to the end of the school year, please be reminded of the school’s policy regarding giving gifts to staff. If you need any clarification, contact the Admin Office, who will be glad to help.

In accordance with the “Prohibition of Improper Solicitation and Graft Act” which applies to all teachers at schools as well as public officials at government or public institutions in Korea, all HFS staff, both teaching and non-teaching, and their spouses are not allowed to accept gifts or gratuities. This includes all forms of individual gifts and group gifts. Even with the best intentions, giving these gifts could put the staff member and the school in legal trouble.

Gifts can only be accepted in the following circumstances:

All HFS staff may receive gifts from parents/students who are permanently leaving the school.
All HFS staff who are permanently leaving the school may receive gifts.
Gift-giving is a personal choice, and families are in no way obligated to give gifts in the above permissible circumstances. Well-wishing cards are allowed to be given at any time.
