Mrs. Sim – Weekly Update Term 1 Week 12

Hello!

Dear Parents,

Happy Friday to you all!

Well, what a busy week we have had! Time has flown by!

The trip to Seonam Park was so much fun, and the sun shone all day for us. We enjoyed climbing, building, bubbles, ziplining, and bouncing! The children didn’t want to go home! I hope they made lots of great memories.

Let’s take a look at what we learned this week.

In Maths this week we have completed the following objectives:

Year 1

3.2 – Sort 3-D shapes
3.3 – Recognise and name 2-D shapes
3.4 – Sort 2-D shapes

Year 1 students have enjoyed exploring 2D and 3D shapes. We named, sorted and built houses using magnetic shapes!

Year 2

Aut.2.12 – Subtract a 1-digit number from a 2-digit number (across a 10)
Aut.2.13 – 10 more, 10 less
Aut.2.11 – Subtract from a 10 (review)
Aut.2.14 – Add and subtract 10s

Year 2 students have built up their confidence using various strategies to solved subtraction and addition problems.

In Literacy, the students wrote all about Buckingham Palace! They had to imagine that they were the characters from the story and write about what they could see as they stood in front of the Palace. We made sure to use adjectives to describe those beautiful, golden gates! Year 2 students tried to use adverbs in their sentences and worked on using commas in their sentences.

The students will be writing about their favourite London sights next week!

In IPC, we continued on with our Unit “Time Travellers”. We began the week by doing a little “show and tell” which the students LOVED! It was lovely to see how proud they were of their belongings. They then made little labels to describe their belongings and give more information about them.

We explored time and did a sorting activity to familiarise ourselves with ‘years ago’, ‘months ago’, ‘weeks ago’ and ‘hours ago’. This led on to our final activity of the week where we created our very own timelines!

Christmas Show Dance

Apologies for not sending the link in last week’s update. The children are eager to practise the dance at home too! Practise makes perfect as they say 🙂 This is what we are going to perform at the Christmas Show.

Christmas Dance link

The Christmas Show will take place on Friday the 13th December.

It is still 4 weeks away yet but I would like to get a head and think about costumes for the big day. I have attached links and would be ever so grateful if you could order this for your child to wear on the day. I think it will look just beautiful to have them all in the same clothes 🙂 Delivery usually takes a week or so. If you have any problems getting it ordered, please do let me know and I would be happy to help you. As Christmas approaches things sell out fast so please do order sooner rather than later.

Girl’s Dress

Boy’s Tshirt (Burgandy colour)

Thank you so much!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Kind regards

Mrs. Sim
