Dear Parents,
Oh what a week we’ve had. There has been a lot of sickness this week in our class and many absences. I hope everyone gets better soon 🙂I’m thinking of all those who aren’t feeling well.
I have stayed on track with the curriculum and with fewer students, we have gotten through a lot of work and had fun together.
In Maths, this week, Year 1 continued with their unit on Place Value and are due to finish it next week. The Year 2 students have been learning all about money and will sit an assessment for the end of the unit next week. Here are the objectives we studied:
Year 1

| Spr.1.9 – Find change |
In Literacy, we have read the first part of our class story “The Lion Inside” and the students did a lot of writing this week. We looked at the Mouse character and wrote sentences about him. We spent time brainstorming words to describe the setting of the story. The Year 2 students are learning all about progressive verbs and using because to explain. The Year 1 students are making sure to use the correct punctuation and use of ‘and’ in their sentences. I am proud of the progress they are making.
Phonics groups are running well and the students seem to really enjoy the small group activities.
In IPC this week we have continued on with our “Push me, Pull You” unit.
I have never laughed so much! We carried out an experiment to see if water is also a force that can move objects. We used a football and a volleyball and tried to move them using; a water gun, a bucket and a hose. We accidently sprayed Mr. Green and he got a little bit wet! The students were all correct with their predictions and it was a really lovely afternoon full of laughter.
We also investigated if air resistance increased when the surface area is bigger. The students had fun running up and down the pitch experimenting with different sizes of card in front of them.
Homework
Inside the childrens homework folders there is a small laminated card with passwords and login details for both Sumdog (Maths) and EducationCity (Literacy and Math). Please feel free to use these at home if your child wishes to. I haven’t set any specific work but they can explore the various activities and review what we have learned in class.
