HFS Newsletter – T1W1

First week finished!

We’ve had a wonderful start together, and there’s plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead, from class orientation meetings and after-school activities to our first PTA coffee morning.

Please take a moment to read through the updates below and mark those important dates in your calendar – it’s going to be a busy and exciting start to the term!

Class Orientation Meetings

You should have received details regarding class orientation meetings from your class teacher.

These meetings are an opportunity for the teacher to explain the curriculum and class routines. All parents are encouraged to attend. Look out for an email from your class teacher.

After-School Activities

Please use the form below to register for after-school activities in Term 1.

The deadline for registration is Wednesday, 3rd September – Week 2

After-School Activities start in Week 3 and run until Week 13.

Parent Teacher Association (PTA)

All parents are invited to join the PTA!

If you are interested in joining, please come to our coffee morning on Monday 1st September at 10.30am

The PTA is for parents, teachers, students and administration to work together to support the school through social events, fundraising and volunteer opportunities, with the goal of enhancing the cultural, social and educational life of the school, benefiting the children and contributing to the life of all members of the school community.

School Consultative Group

The School Consultative Group is looking for new parent representative members. The School Consultative Group is a group of parents, teachers and administrators who meet termly to discuss school operations

  • The purpose of this group is to:
    • To ensure smooth and effective communication amongst all stakeholders in the school
    • To help the school community acquire an improved understanding of the operation of the school
    • To more readily listen to the views and opinions of the school community and reflect them in the management of the school
    • School Consultative Group Policy and Procedures

If you would be interested in joining this group, please contact Mr Green. If more than one parent is interested in joining, elections will be held.

Uniform

The start of the year might be a good time to order some new uniform. Please remember that all students are expected to own a uniform for school trips and special occasions.

Uniforms can be ordered online – School Uniform Order Form

Students can visit the Admin Office to try on uniforms for size.

Cambridge Insight Tests

Students in Year 2 and above will take Cambridge Insight Tests in maths and English this week or next.. These are a series of short online assessments that help us to track pupils’ progress over time and identify students who may need extra help or support. The individual results of these assessments will be made available to parents in Week 3.

School Bus Code of Conduct

To ensure the safe and smooth operation of the school buses, we ask all parents and students who will be using the bus to read and acknowledge our School Bus Code of Conduct.

  • Does the school have up-to-date contact information for you?
  • Have you moved house or changed phone numbers?
  • Has any medical or safety information for your child changed?

If so, please contact the Admin Office to update your details.

Temporary Teacher Assistant

We are currently advertising for a temporary teaching assistant. If you know someone who may be interested, please share this opportunity.

The start of the school year is just around the corner!

We are very excited to welcome all our students back after the summer break and to see our classrooms filled with curiosity, energy and friendship once again.

Our teachers have been busy preparing engaging lessons and exciting opportunities for learning, and we are looking forward to supporting every child as they grow both academically and personally this year.

We cannot wait to see our returning families and to extend a very warm welcome to those who are joining HFS for the first time. It promises to be a wonderful year ahead, filled with new discoveries, achievements and memorable moments.

Staff Training and Induction Week

The student might start next week, but HFS staff have been hard at work this week preparing for the new year.

We’ve refreshed our first aid skills, reviewed important school policies and procedures, welcomed our new staff and students, made sure all our learning spaces are ready to welcome students, and most importantly, reconnected as a team.

It’s been a week full of learning, laughter and plenty of coffee, and now we’re excited and ready to welcome our wonderful students back!

Staff are in school this week preparing for the new year and completing training and professional development. If you need to contact us this week, we are here.

Induction Day

New families joining HFS should have received an email regarding Induction Day on Friday 22nd August. We are looking forward to meeting you all and welcoming you to your new school.

If you did not receive an email, please contact the Admin Office.

School Bus

The school bus schedule will be published later this week when we have tested the route.
