We are spending a few weeks exploring instruments as a theme in art, discovering how artists express musical instruments in unique and interesting styles.
This week, we began with our first lesson on instruments by looking at one of Pablo Picasso’s most famous paintings, Three Musicians. The kids observed the instruments in the painting, discussing the colours and shapes they noticed. After sharing our ideas, we created our own version of Three Musicians using a variety of colours, just like Picasso did. While Picasso painted with oil, we used a cut-out technique this time. We’ll continue with this theme next week.
