Y5-6 Art Class Update T1-W12

The Year 5-6 students are continuing their exploration of Ancient Egyptian and Greek art. This week, we delved deeper into the theme of pyramids. We discussed the number of pyramids, what is inside them, and the sculptures that stand in front of them. Each student designed their own pyramid, using a ruler to help with accuracy. Drawing the right side was challenging, even with the ruler, as we had to think carefully about the pyramid’s size and proportions.

Through this project, we learned that creating safe and well-constructed buildings requires not only artistic skill but also precise calculations—an essential skill for both artists and architects. This is why great artists like Michelangelo were also proficient in fields like mathematics.

It was a lot of fun, and next week, we’ll continue by making an entrance gate and a mummy case!
