Staffing for 2024/25

You may be aware that the school is currently advertising for new teachers, so we would like to inform you of staff who will be leaving HFS at the end of the year.

  • Ms McClellan will be leaving HFS to take up a new role in China
  • Mrs Leah will be leaving as her family will be relocating

We are currently shortlisting from a very strong group of candidates who responded to our job posting.

Class teacher allocations are finalised in Term 3, and parents will be informed accordingly.

Suspension of FS1/2

Due to falling enrolment, we do not currently plan on opening an FS1/2 class in 2025/26. We are open to the possibility of reopening this section of the school if demand exists.

Bus and Parking

To improve safety, we have moved the place where the students get on the bus at school.

Please do not park in the area around the buses, especially at the end of the school day.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Thank you to all the parents who attended parent-teacher conferences this week. Our teachers appreciate your interest and commitment to your child’s learning and the respectful and productive meetings that we were able to have.

If you did not have a chance to meet with your child’s teacher and would like to, please contact the teacher directly, and we can arrange a mutually convenient time.

If you would like a follow-up meeting with the principal to discuss anything, please contact Mr. Green and he will be happy to meet with you.

Continuing Enrolment Survey

As we plan for the upcoming academic year, we kindly request your participation in this Continuing Enrolment Survey. Your response will help us prepare effectively to ensure the best possible experience for our students. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey.

If you have any questions that may inform your decision on continued enrolment, Mr. Green or a member of the Admin Office would be happy to meet with you.

School Consultative Group

We have had no responses from parents wishing to join this group at this stage. If you would like to join this group, please email Mr. Green. We will keep you updated on any progress. Having parent representation in school consultation and decision-making is very valuable, so we are keen to find some parents who are willing to join.

Valentines Messages

Thank you to the PTA for organising our Valentine’s Day event. The teachers really appreciated the chocolates and kind messages.

Upcoming Events

  • International Day – Friday, 7th March
  • School Consultative Group Meeting – Wednesday, 12th March

Ski Trip Cancellation Notice

Dear Parents,

We regret to inform you that the planned ski trip has been cancelled due to a lower than expected number of students expressing interest. While we were excited about this opportunity, we are unable to proceed without sufficient participation to make the trip viable.

We understand this news may be disappointing, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please rest assured that we are exploring alternative activities and opportunities for students to enjoy in the near future.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

Sickness

We would like to inform you that there has been a noticeable increase in cases of a stomach bug going around the school this week. Symptoms reported include vomiting, nausea, and fatigue. Symptoms seem to appear quickly, with students reporting a temperature in the morning but experiencing nausea or vomiting later in the day.

To help prevent the spread, we kindly ask you to monitor your child for any signs of illness and keep them at home if they are feeling unwell. Please remind your children to practice good hygiene, such as frequent handwashing..

If your child does become ill, we recommend seeking medical advice and ensuring they are symptom-free for at least 24 hours before returning to school.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy and safe.

Students will only be permitted to stay inside at breaktime and lunchtime if the parents have contacted the class teacher or Mr. Green to make arrangements, and then only in special circumstances such as short-term illness.

We are nearly there!

3 gifts left to buy!

Gift List

Please remember to deliver your gift to school by Wednesday this week.

Do you want to help us spread some Christmas cheer to a good cause in the local community?

This Christmas, HFS has partnered with Ulsan Children’s Home (울산양육원) to provide Christmas gifts for their children. Ulsan Children’s Home has been providing a loving home to disadvantaged children in Ulsan since 1947. The children at the home have each chosen a Christmas gift for the community at HFS to buy for them. Closer to Christmas, we will deliver the gift to the centre. Through this initiative, we are hoping our students learn a little about the importance of helping those less fortunate and contributing to the local community.

If you would like to take part and buy a gift:

Choose a gift from the list
Write your name in Column A to show that the gift has been chosen
If you want to remain anonymous, please contact the Admin Office for assistance
Buy the gift using the Coupang link provided (The Admin Office can help if necessary)
Make sure to check the ‘Notes’ column for any size or colour options
Wrap the gift and maybe add a few candys or a nice note
Bring the gift to school marked with the Gift ID
All gifts should be at school before the end of term

Dropping Your Lunch

Please note that if a student drops their lunch and therefore has nothing to eat, the school’s procedure is to call the parents to arrange for a lunch to be provided. The school will try to help ensure the student does not go hungry, but we cannot provide food in all circumstances.

After-School Activities

Please remember that this is the last week for after-school activities. There are no after-school activities in the last week of term.

Please check the Bus Schedule for changed drop-off times.
