Busan Science Museum Trip

Please remember that the whole school will be visiting Busan Science Museum next Wednesday. Each class is booked in to do a different hands-on activity in the museum’s education centre.

Please make sure you have completed the permission form sent by your child’s teacher.

Please make sure students are at school before 9am on this day, as we want to leave on time.

No After-School Activities in Week 10

Please remember that after-school activities do not happen in the last week of terms, so there are no after-school activities in Week 10.

Please be aware that the after-school bus schedule will be affected.

Residential Trip

Before we begin planning in detail, we would like to gauge the level of support from parents for taking out Year 3/4, Year 5/6, and Year 7/8/9 classes away for a residential trip in Term 3. In the past 2 years, we have taken these classes away in term 3 for overnight stays at facilities in the local area. Last year we went to a location near Busan, and the year before we went to Unmoonsan Recreastional Forest. The Year 3/4 class would spend one night away from home, and the older students would stay for two nights. The students look forward to these trips, and we believe they are an important experience that develops confidence, responsibility, and leadership.

Here is the presentation we gave about last year’s trip. The format for this year’s trip will be very similar, but we may change the activities and location.

Parents of students in Mr. Dunn’s, Ms. Temple’s, and Mrs. Leah’s class are invited to share their opinions using this form.

If there is a sufficient level of interest and support for these trips, we will begin planning in detail.

School Consultative Group

Mr. Geoff Donnison has volunteered to join the School Consultative Group to represent the parents. The next meeting of this group will be held on Wednesday, 19th March. Parents wishing to share opinions with the School Consultative Group can contact Mr. Donnison by email.

School is open for all students and staff on Tuesday, 4th March

International Day

The school and PTA are organising an International Day on Friday, 7th March.

Intentional Day will take place in the morning of Friday 7th March and all parents are invited to join. Activities will begin at 10.30am and run until the buffet at 12.30. In the afternoon, students will be working together to learn about ideas related to international mindset and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

This event will feature an international buffet for students to sample food from different countries. Students will not need a lunch on this day.

Students are invited to come to school on Friday wearing national dress from a country they are associated with.

The PTA are always looking for volunteers to help with this and other events. You can contact them through the school or via the PTA KakaoTalk group.

As part of this event, the PTA would like to collect short video clips of students, parents, and other members of the community speaking in their language. These will be used to create a short video celebrating the linguistic and cultural diversity of our community.

Name Change Survey

The school is once again considering a name change to “Ulsan Hyundai International School.” We believe this name better reflects our identity as an international school based in Ulsan and aligns with the naming conventions of other international schools in Korea. Retaining “Hyundai” in our name highlights our rich history and longstanding association with our parent company, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, reinforcing the strong foundation and legacy that define our school.

An important part of the process of considering a name change is to seek the opinions of all members of our community. We would love to hear what you think.

Please take a moment to share your opinion through this survey form.

You could also tell us what you think informally the next time you are at school.

School Consultative Group

We have had no responses from parents wishing to join this group at this stage. If you would like to join this group, please email Mr. Green. We will keep you updated on any progress. Having parent representation in school consultation and decision-making is very valuable, so we are keen to find some parents who are willing to join.

We are nearly there!

3 gifts left to buy!

Gift List

Please remember to deliver your gift to school by Wednesday this week.

Do you want to help us spread some Christmas cheer to a good cause in the local community?

This Christmas, HFS has partnered with Ulsan Children’s Home (울산양육원) to provide Christmas gifts for their children. Ulsan Children’s Home has been providing a loving home to disadvantaged children in Ulsan since 1947. The children at the home have each chosen a Christmas gift for the community at HFS to buy for them. Closer to Christmas, we will deliver the gift to the centre. Through this initiative, we are hoping our students learn a little about the importance of helping those less fortunate and contributing to the local community.

If you would like to take part and buy a gift:

Choose a gift from the list
Write your name in Column A to show that the gift has been chosen
If you want to remain anonymous, please contact the Admin Office for assistance
Buy the gift using the Coupang link provided (The Admin Office can help if necessary)
Make sure to check the ‘Notes’ column for any size or colour options
Wrap the gift and maybe add a few candys or a nice note
Bring the gift to school marked with the Gift ID
All gifts should be at school before the end of term

Dropping Your Lunch

Please note that if a student drops their lunch and therefore has nothing to eat, the school’s procedure is to call the parents to arrange for a lunch to be provided. The school will try to help ensure the student does not go hungry, but we cannot provide food in all circumstances.

After-School Activities

Please remember that this is the last week for after-school activities. There are no after-school activities in the last week of term.

Please check the Bus Schedule for changed drop-off times.
