Halloween

A big thank you to the PTA and everyone who helped to organise a great Halloween party.

The students all had such a great time!

Here are some pictures from the party.

Renovation Update

Renovation work at the new school is progressing according to schedule, and we don’t anticipate any problems with starting school at the new site in Term 2. Interior renovation work should be completed by early December. The moving company has been booked to transfer all our stuff to the new school as soon as term 1 finishes.

We are planning a few open days at the end of the Winter Break and early in Term 2 to allow parents to see our new school. We will also be holding an opening event in February to celebrate our new home.

Please remember that we will not host a Winter Show this year as we will be very busy putting everything in boxes. We will hold a Spring Show at the end of Term 2.

Nut Allergy

A new student who will soon be attending our school has a severe allergy to nuts. Although they are not prohibited, we kindly ask that everyone be aware, exercise caution, and contribute to the safety of our school. We think that the best ways to deal with these issues are through education and conversation. Our students have been informed and are eager to help.

Scholastic Book Club

Our new Scholastic Book Club is up and running! Go to https://world-schools.scholastic.co.uk/hyundai-foreign/digital-book-club to browse the latest books and order online.

Book catalogues were also sent home on Friday. Please place your order online by November 17th, 2023.

Mr Green will be Out of School

Mr Green will be out of school all of Week 12 (Monday, November 20th – Friday, November 24th).

He will be visiting an international school in China as part of a CIS evaluation team visit. Visiting other international schools benefits HFS by allowing us to compare ourselves to the best schools in the world and by keeping us up-to-date with developments in international education.

Buses next Friday

Next Friday will be the Halloween Party and we want to be sure we know how everyone is getting home. There are no student-led clubs after the Halloween Party. Some students may want to leave on the first bus at 3.30 pm, and some may wish to stay for another hour until 4.30 pm. We suggest that younger students may be tired by 3.30 pm and therefore be better off on the first bus. We also have limited spaces on each bus.

Could you complete this form to let us know how you will be getting home after the Halloween party and we try our best to accommodate everyone. Bus arrangements will be confirmed early next week.

Creativity Gives Us Wings

Today the students were given a butterfly to decorate at home.

We are making a school group art project expressing our creativity

Your Task

Decorate your butterfly in the most creative way you can.

Maybe you could…

  • Choose a style like Elmer the Elephant or Matisse
  • Choose a theme like your favourite football team, band or movie character
  • Use different mediums such as paint, cut and stick paper or pen and ink

Please return your butterfly to school by Friday 22nd September

Changing After-School Arrangements

Please help us keep our students safe by making sure to call or email the Admin Office if your child is going to change their arrangements for the bus or being picked up after school.

It is not enough to send a verbal message with the student. We have had a couple of occasions this week where the message we were being told by a student was not correct when we checked with the parents.

Thank you.

Joint Lunch Time

Starting next week (Week 4) all students will eat together at 12.30 pm. This means lunch will be 30 minutes later for students in Ms. McClellan’s and Mrs. Sim’s classes.

We have done this to provide more opportunities for all students to interact with each other and to simplify our timetables.

Headphones

Please remember that students are issued with a pair of headphones to use with their laptop or tablet at school. We do our best to keep headphones working but they are easily broken if the students do not handle them carefully.

School policy is that if headphones need replacing the cost should be paid by the student.

New Uniform

This week some staff and students received their new uniform, featuring the new school logo.

Uniform is available to order from the Admin Office.

Renovation Update

Work at the new school is continuing on schedule. We are also in the process of finalising a large order for new furniture and resources to fit out our new home. The Winter Holiday and the start of Term 2 are going to be a very exciting time at HFS!

International Children’s Festival

Students from HFS will be performing at the International Children’s Festival in October.

To prepare for this event we are trying to learn a song in Korean and a song in English. If you could help at home that would be great.

Chuseok Celebrations

All parents are invited to join us for a Chusoek Celebration on Tuesday 26th September at 1.30 p.m. on the Astroturf field. There will be dancing, music and food.

All student are encouraged to wear either Hanbok or their national dress on this day. If you don’t want to do either, that is also ok.
